Océanie : Benoît XVI érige l’éparchie chaldéenne de Saint-ThomasROME, Lundi 23 octobre 2006 (ZENIT.org) – En Océanie, le pape Benoît XVI a érigé l’éparchie chaldéenne de « Saint-Thomas Apôtre de Sydney des Chaldéens » qui regroupe quelque 29 000 catholiques chaldéens. Benoît XVI a nommé Mgr Djibrail Kassab, premier évêque de cette éparchie chaldéenne d’Océanie. Le nouvel évêque était jusqu’ici archevêque de Bassorah, en Irak. Avec cette nouvelle nomination, il conserve le rang archiépiscopal à titre personnel. |
